The HTC Desire S was the successor to the Desire smart phone that was only officially supported till Android ICS operating system. But, codefireX has successfully ported Android 4.1, more popularly known as Jelly Bean to the HTC Desire S phone.
Here are installation instructions:
First, download the firmware from here and follow below mentioned steps
1) Wipe data\factory reset
2) Wipe Cashe+Dalvik
3) flash Zip from SD card
4) flash Gapps
5) Flash boot.img via Fastboot (only if your device is HTCdev unlocked)
6) reboot & enjoy
