Micron Technology announced on the 6th (US time) the SSD Micron 2550 NVMe SSD for clients that uses 232-layer NAND flash. It has already started shipping for OEMs.
The Micron 2550 NVMe SSD is a client SSD that uses the company’s 232-layer NAND flash and supports PCI Express 4.0. It claims to be the world’s first product for clients using NAND with more than 200 layers.
It is expected to be adopted on the mainstream PC platform, demonstrating a maximum of 5GB/s for sequential read and a maximum of 4GB/s for the same write. Compared to the previous generation, they are 43% and 33% faster, respectively. Compared to competing products, it claims to be able to speed up file transfers by up to 112% and load major games by up to 57%.
In addition, predictive cache optimization and host memory buffer technology are adopted. Low power consumption is also achieved through a unique energy-saving mode.
The form factor is M.2 2280, 2242, 2230, and the capacity is 256GB, 512GB, 1TB.
