Huawei P40 Pro and P40 Pro Plus android smartphones have been released without much hype around it. Main reason behind this lackluster launch is lack of Google services.

Huawei P40 Pro and P40 Pro Plus specifications – The processor of the Huawei P40 and Huawei P40 Pro is the Kirin-990 processor. This also brings 5G for the smartphones. The Kirin 990 is constructed with eight cores according to the big / middle / little principle: two high-performance cores, which are based on the Cortex-A76, form the main unit. These reach 2.86 GHz.

The middle processor cores form two A76 cores with 2.36 GHz. The remaining four cores are A55 cores, which are operated at 1.95 GHz.

A Mali GPU with 16 cores is installed as a GPU in both models. Both Huawei P40 and Huawei P40 Pro come with 8 GB of RAM on the market. Both devices use the same main camera Leica Vario Summilux-H with a 50 megapixel f1.9 (aperture), 1/128 inch sensor and Octa PD autofocus.

The devices are delivered with EMUI 10.1 based on Android 10. Google services such as the Playstore, Gmail, etc. have to be banned/removed with due to the sanctions against Huawei. The P40 and P40 Pro support dual SIM plus e-SIM. The absence of the headphone jack is identical for both devices. But they are protected against water and dust, the P40 according to IP53, the P40 Pro according to IP68.

The smaller version, the P40, comes with a 6.1-inch display that has a resolution of 2,340 x 1,080 pixels. This corresponds to a pixel density of 422 dpi. The display has a refresh rate of 60 Hz.

The Huawei P40 has three cameras, the main camera mentioned above, and two more: The second camera is a 16 megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera for ultra-wide-angle photography and 2.5 cm macro shots. The third camera is an eight megapixel telephoto lens with triple optical zoom and five times hybrid zoom.

The battery of the Huawei P40 has a capacity of 3,800 mAh and should be able to be charged using a 40 W quick-charging power supply. Charging power of up to 22.5 W is made possible inductively. The Huawei P40 has a storage capacity of 128 GB and will cost 799 euros / dollars.

The Huawei P40 Pro is the new flagship from Huawei: the 6.5-inch display is slightly larger than the P40 and has a resolution of 2,640 x 1,200 pixels. The pixel density is also somewhat higher at 441 dpi. The refresh rate increases to 90 Hz.

The smartphone is delivered with a quad camera, with the fourth lens comes a time-of-flight auxiliary lens, which should improve the depth of field. In the Huawei P40 Pro, the ultra-wide-angle camera with 40 megapixels is significantly more sensitive and, in addition, it has a periscope telephoto lens with five times the optical zoom and twelve megapixel sensor.

The battery in the Huawei P40 Pro is 4,200 mAh larger than the Huawei P40. The memory is twice as large with 256 GB and can be expanded. The price for the Huawei P40 Pro is 999 euros / dollars. Both smartphones can now be ordered.
