Alcatel has introduced the OneTouch Idol Idol 2 and 2S two new mid-range smartphones at the MWC 2014 . Both are 5-inch displays, with relatively low prices. While the Alcatel OneTouch Idol 2 is cheaper, the Alcatel OneTouch Idol 2S is equipped with a LTE module.
Alcatel OneTouch Idol 2 features a 5-inch qHD display, which has a resolution of 960 x 540 pixels. The smartphone is powered by MediaTek 1.3 GHz quad-core processor, the 1 GB RAM. On the back there is an 8 MP camera, and on the front and a 2 MP camera. The operating system is customized Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. An update to Android 4.4 KitKat will probably be possible. Other features include WiFi, HSDPA and NFC. It is priced at € 199.
The Alcatel OneTouch Idol 2S at € 249 is more expensive, but also much better equipped. It offers a 5-inch display but at least a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. The built-in Qualcomm quad-core processor only works at 1.2GHz, with the 1 GB RAM. However, for the higher price you not only get Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, but an update to Android 4.4 KitKat will be available soon. It will also have support for NFC and LTE connectivity.
Both versions come with an 8-megapixel camera with LED flash and a 1.3 MP with Front cam. They will hit market in April and May with two different version. The single SIM version with 8GB internal memory expandable via microSD card, and a dual SIM version with 16GB of internal memory with no option for extension available.
