VIA announced VIA VAB-1000 card with support for Android. Based on VIA Elite E1000 dual core Cortex-A9 SoC at 1.0GHz processor, the VIA VAB-1000 board is characterized by performance graphics and high-performance video engine, optimized to provide more extensive multimedia features and a more immersive user experience, wide range of interactive kiosks, digital signage applications and Human Machine Interface. VIA allow developers to take full advantage of the Android functionality for integrated applications by offering SMART ETK (Embedded Tool Kit) and a full range of software customization services that reduce development costs.
The board VIA VAB-1000 is based on the ultra-compact format Pico-ITX just 10 cm x 7.2 cm, and is based on the powerful dual-core VIA Elite Cortex-A9 1.0GHz processor with Unified Shader Architecture characterized by 64-bit stream processor architecture and support for the use of two independent displays with accelerated 3D/2D graphics and playback support for Full HD (1080p).
The I / O section at the back of the card includes two connectors HDMI to HDMI-in and HDMI-out , a door to the mini-USB 2.0 , one MicroSD slot , Gigabit Ethernet port, and one DC-in jack .The I / O section is characterized by a front connector for two additional USB ports, a connector for SPI1 and 8 GPIO inputs , one connector for I2C three and two COM ports , and a connector at the front for audio (Line-in / Line-Out/Mic-In). Other features include a 4GB eMMC flash memory, 2GB of DDR3 SDRAM, a dual channel LVDS connector, an S-video connector and a Mini-PCIe connector.
