Silicon Motion announced the SSD controller, SM2268XT for PCI Express 4.0 / NVMe 2.0. Sample shipments have already begun shipping to customers who pre-ordered earlier. The team behind SM2268XT is very excited about its high performance and they believe SM2268XT will be a huge upgrade for standard of high performance solid state drives. It will bring them to next level together with their BiCS flash storage.
The Silicon Motion SM2268XT uses a dual-core ARM Cortex-R8 CPU and supports four NAND flash channels.
It delivers up to 3,200 MT/s per channel, with multi-core design that automatically adjusts the computational load to achieve sequential read and write speeds up to 7,400 MB/s and up to 6,500 MB/s, and random read up to 1.2 million IOPS / Achieve light speed.
Silicon Motion SM2268XT makes use of adopts a new system bus architecture, host memory buffer function, 8th generation NANDXtend ECC technology, etc. It is said that it can be used for a wide range of SSD products from low price range to high price range.
