The LG Optimus 2x runs Android 2.2.1, and offers up a four inch LCD display showing at 800 x 480 resolution. You’ll also get an eight megapixel rear-facing camera that records video in full 1080p, as well as a burst shooting mode, a 1.3 megapixel front facing camera for video conferencing, eight gigs of onboard memory (though you can up that to thirty two with a micro SD card, since it has a slot for that), a mini HDMI port, 3G, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, a digital compass, Google Maps with GPS, MP3 player, support for Flash 10.1, a variety of games and other applications geared toward getting the most out of the Tegra 2 processor running this phone, and a battery that yields nearly eight hours of talk time.
This may well be one of the strangest experiences I’ve had with a cell phone in some time. Make no mistake, the features are there and in spades. The battery life is almost superhuman as cell phone batteries go, but I wasn’t exactly happy with the controls. It took a little getting used to, but that’s going to be different for pretty much everybody.
Still though, this is definitely going to do a nice job on most every front, so if you’re looking for a new cell phone and you absolutely, positively have to go Android, get a little face time with the LG Optimus 2X.
