UMPC used to be amazing little computers with tiny screens that used mobile x86 processors and ran Windows. The concept never really gained traction but the concept of “PC in your pocket” always has been dream of many.
A Japanese company, Gloture has released NanoPC that comes with a tiny 5.5” display. Priced at 84,700 yen, ~$600, the Gloture NanoPC features Intel Celeron J4125 processor, 8GB DDR4 RAM and 128GB eMMC storage. The display packs HD 1280×720 pixel resolution and supports multitouch function.
It has quite decent interface selection – USB 3.0 x 4, Gigabit Ethernet, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, Mini HDMI 2.0 x 2, microSD card slot, and 3.5mm audio jack. This NanoPC definitely gets brownie points for Gigabit Ethernet port. Power is supplied via USB Type-C slot to the 2500mAh battery.
It has accelerometer onboard, allowing you switch between landscape and portrait modes easily.
The company claims you can power three displays including main unit – so, you can connect 2 external displays via its two HDMI ports. As expected, NanoPC is super compact, measuring 142 x 17.76 x 91.2 mm and runs Windows 11 Pro operating system. In the hand, it feels like a thicker smartphone. [details]
