Synology has released 2-bay / 4-bay NAS Kit for Home / Small Office – DS220+, DS720+, DS420+ and DS920+. NAS kit with two 2.5 / 3.5-inch drive bays for the DS220 + and DS720 + and four for the DS420 + and DS920 +. It has a built-in Web browser-based OS, “DiskStation Manager (DSM),” which makes various settings and management intuitive.
Celeron J4025 or J4125 is used for the CPU, DDR4 2GB (4GB for the DS920 + only) is adopted for the memory, and a hardware encryption engine compatible with AES-NI is installed. With 3 models other than DS220 +, the system cache by M.2 NVMe SSD x 2 can be used to improve the performance.
The maximum read speed and write speed are 225MB / s and 192MB / s for DS220 +, 226MB / s and 225MB / s for DS420 +, 225MB / s and 195MB / s for DS720 +, and 225MB / s for DS920 +. With the latter two models, you can expand the storage by connecting the separately sold “DX517”.
The disk array supports Synology Hybrid RAID, Basic, JBOD, RAID 0/1 for the 2-bay model, and RAID 5/6/10 in addition to this for the 4-bay model. The interface is Gigabit Ethernet × 2, USB 3.0 × 2, eSATA (DS720 + / DS920 + only).
