MediaTek’s Aster SoC is an all-in-one solution for smartwatch and other devices of wearable technology, in which a chip of just 5 mm size not only integrates the CPU and GPU but also the Bluetooth module, the power management chip, memory etc. MT6630 chip is a 5-in-1 that includes Wi-Fi dual-band, ANT +, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS and FM Radio.
The first is an embedded solution addressed to wearable device technology, whose main interest is integration on a chip measuring just 5.4 x 6 mm, allows combination of ARM7 ESJ processor and GPU , along with other components such as chips for power management, system memory (4 MB of SDRAM, flash memory), a Bluetooth 4.0 LE module and, a framework to run apps on devices.
MediaTek MT6630 is a wireless 5-in-1 chip that integrates Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n/ac dual-band technology with support for Wi-Fi Direct and Miracast, Bluetooth 4.1, ANT +, multimode GPS and FM Radio into a single module. MT6630 has been developed to be easily integrated in the SoC without interfering with any LTE 4G chip. The MT6630 SoC will be available from the second half of 2014.
