The EliteBook Folio 1040 G1 is the thinnest ever ultraportable made by HP for professionals. It meets the most stringent standards in terms of safety, and provides powerful hardware platform.
Featuring a sleek yet sturdy body, it is equipped with several solutions for data protection like a smart card reader, a biometric sensor for fingerprint reading, HP Sure Start, which automatic recovers a corrupted or under attack BIOS, and HP Trust Circles that protects data by ensuring that only approved contacts can have access to critical files.
The chassis is robust and resistant to shock, drop-dust and liquids, accomplishing the MIL-STD 810G standard, and measures 338 x 233 x 15.9 mm.
The customer can choose between the Intel Core i5-4200U 1.6 GHz processor or the Core i5-4300U 1.9 GHz processor or the Core i7-4600U 2.1 GHz processor which will accompany 8 GB DDR3L RAM, and 128 or 256 GB SSD. The Folio 1040 G1 hosts 2 USB 3.0, one with a charging capacity even in stand-by mode, DisplayPort digital video output, an audio jack combined headphone / microphone, a microSD slot and a Kensington security slot.
HP chose two 14 inches panels, one with a 1600 x 900 pixels resolution and another with 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution, but with anti-glare finish. Also interesting is the presence of a new generation of touchpad, Synaptics ForcePad, with pressure sensors instead of physical buttons, so as to save on the overall thickness of the laptop. A 720p webcam with dual microphones for ambient noise suppression, audio system with DTS Sound Studio and modules Gigabit Ethernet LAN, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 and 3G or 4G Gobi completes the equipment. The device is priced at about $ 1960.
