EE a UK network provider has launched its first branded android phone in UK. It claims that it is the cheapest handset with 4G plan. For GBP 14 / month for 24 months, you will be getting 500 minutes of talktime, unlimited text messages, 500MB of 4G data and a free EE Kestrel.
EE Kestrel Specs are ho-hum
The phone is actually made by Huawei, a Chinese manufacture which means it is actually not a true British phone but imported from China. Let’s come to its specifications, shall we? It comes with 4G LTE connectivity backed by a 1.2 GHz quad core CPU, a gigabyte of RAM and 4.5 inch display packing 960 x 540 pixel LCD screen.
The EE’s Kestrel runs Android 4.3 jelly bean out of box and does not come with Playstore pre-installed. Instead you get Amazon’s store and some applications from EE.
On the back is a 5 megapixel camera and there is another one on the front packing 1 mega pixel that is ideal for video calling and selfies. The back cam is capable of capturing 720p video at 30fps.
For storage you get 8 gigabytes expandable via micro SD card slot. Battery life should be decent given the fact it comes equipped with a 2000 mAh battery. The phone will also sell for Kestrel for £99 on a 4G pay as you go plan.
