Popular laptop maker, Clevo has leaked details of upcoming mobile Nvidia GeForce GPUs. This includes GTX 880M, 870M, 860M and 860M MXM modules. While concrete specifications are not yet available, we do know that these GPU units are based on Maxwell architecture. This ‘base’ is also being used in GeForce 800-series used in desktops.
Top end GPU includes 880M, 870M, 860M – these can be swapped by faster / newer GPUs. All of them are SLI compatible – great news for gaming laptop vendors.
For mainstream system, you get GTX 860M, 840M and 850M – which will be soldered directly on to the MB. Axiomatically, these would not be interchangeable. Amount of memory listed in aforementioned images refers to the amount of RAM in the laptop (and not the vRAM of GPU).
Release date of these GPUs is February 2014.
